The Hungarian Grand Prix starts at 3:00 PM (GMT+2) local time on Sunday, July 31. That means another fantastic 9:00 AM race start for American F1 fans! Later on, we’ll dive into the full F1 Hungary Grand Prix schedule for practice and qualifying.

First things first, we’ve got some great free F1 live streams for you to watch this weekend. But, you might run into some geo-blocking restrictions accessing them if you’re not in the country they’re based. Luckily though, there’s still a way to work around these pesky digital fences.

All you need is a Virtual Private Network (VPN) to change your IP address, which in turn changes your virtual location. We’ll show you how to set this all up and watch the F1 Hungarian Grand Prix free from anywhere!

How to Watch the 2022 F1 Hungarian Grand Prix Free

Once a company obtains the rights to broadcast the Hungarian Grand Prix, they also need to abide by a strict set of rules — such as where they are allowed to broadcast the race. Streaming sites will use your IP address to pinpoint your location. If you’re not within the approved region, you’ll simply be met with an error message when trying to access the stream.

As an example, if you’re trying to watch an F1 live stream using Sky Sports F1 from outside of the UK, your access will be blocked — even if you’re a paying subscriber. But, luckily there is a way that you can change your IP address and trick the website into thinking that you are accessing it from an approved region, thus, allowing you to access any content you want to.

The best VPNs on the market have plenty of secure servers in different countries, allowing you to pick and choose which country you want to change your virtual location to. This means you also get to tune into some of the best F1 free live streams in the world.

Can I Watch the Hungary F1 Race with a Free VPN?

While you’re on the lookout for a VPN, you’ll come across some free ones for sure. It might be tempting to use one of these free VPNs to enjoy the best free F1 live streams, but it’s not recommended to do so. Free VPNs come with a ton of drawbacks, and you can see just a few of those below:

  • Slower connection speeds: In Formula 1, anything can happen at any time. With the action-packed nature of the sport, you want to be sure that your Hungary F1 live stream is smooth and up to date at all times, not to mention high quality! With a free VPN though your stream might not tick any of these boxes because of the speed limits that are placed on free VPNs.
  • Fewer global servers to choose from: You’re installing a VPN on your device to bypass geo-blocking and gain access to some of the best of F1’s free live streams. But if you use a free VPN you may not find the server you need (Austria, for example) to access these incredible free live streams!
  • More ads: This sport moves fast, and sometimes you can’t look away for a minute or you’ll miss the action. Unfortunately, your views may be obstructed by ads if you’re not using a premium VPN.

2022 Formula 1 Hungary: What to Expect

The French Grand Prix was an interesting one. It all seemed to be a two-way fight between title contenders Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc. However, on lap 18 disaster struck as pole sitter Charles Leclerc crashed out from the lead of the race.

As a result, Verstappen marched on to a comfortable victory with the two Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton and George Russell joining him on the podium in second and third place respectively.

The Hungaroring Awaits

The legendary Hungaroring is up next and despite the tight and twisty nature of the circuit, it always seems to deliver an incredible race. The Hungarian GP results from last season were a shocker due to mixed weather conditions. Esteban Ocon took his first-ever F1 victory, with Sebastian Vettel finishing in second and Lewis Hamilton finishing third. Vettel was later disqualified for having too little fuel in his car, promoting Carlos Sainz into third place.

This year, the weather conditions are looking much the same, with heavy downpours expected for Qualifying. The Grand Prix on Sunday could turn out to be bone dry, but with wet weather mixing up the starting grid, the racing will be excellent.

The medium-paced nature of the Hungaroingring will play into the strengths of the Ferraris, and it will accentuate the weaknesses of the Red Bulls. If all goes according to plan, Ferrari will have a great weekend ahead of them. But, as we’ve seen this season, the Prancing Horses have not had many trouble-free weekends. If Charles Leclerc is to stay in the fight for the title, he needs to take victory in Hungary.

Saying Goodbye to a Legend of the Sport

On Thursday four-time World Champion Sebastian Vettel announced his retirement from the sport at the end of the 2022 season. The German driver still holds several records in Formula 1 including the youngest ever World Champion, the most consecutive race wins in a season, and the most pole positions in a season.

Despite a challenging few seasons in recent years, he remains one of the greatest drivers in the sport. Vettel has spent 14 years in Formula 1, contributing to improving the safety of cars, making them more environmentally friendly, fighting against the best drivers in the world, and ultimately capturing the hearts of millions of fans all around the world.

Danke, Seb
