Racing fans are gearing up for the “Crown Jewel” of the Formula 1 season this weekend, as 20 of the world’s best drivers tackle one of the most demanding tracks in the sport — the tight and winding city streets of Circuit de Monaco.

The Monaco Grand Prix starts at 3:00 PM local time (GMT+2) on Sunday, May 29. For those fans in the United States who don’t want to miss out on the most famous race of the year, you can watch the Grand Prix at 9:00 AM (EST).

If you find yourself abroad this weekend you might not be able to access your usual streaming services to watch the Monaco Grand Prix. You’re almost guaranteed to run into some geo-blocking restrictions. Luckily, there’s a way that you can overcome these issues and watch the race uninterrupted. We’re going to show you how by using a nifty online tool called a Virtual Private Network (VPN).

How to Watch the 2022 Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix Free from Anywhere

Streaming services and broadcasting companies need to buy the rights to broadcast Formula 1 races, which can cost a ton of money. Streaming services have to follow strict rules such as where they are allowed to broadcast their content, which is why you could encounter geo-blocking when trying to find a stream.

Streaming websites will use your IP address to determine your physical location and then decide whether you are allowed to access the content or not. So if you’re trying to access your US-based SlingTV account from Portugal, for example, you’re out of luck. But there is a way that you can change your IP address to one in a different country — giving you access to any content you’d like.

All you need is a VPN, a popular cybersecurity tool with unblocking capabilities. By using a VPN, you can connect to a secure server in another country. Doing so will trick the website into thinking that you’re accessing it from elsewhere. This trick will also let you unblock free international F1 streams, no matter where you are in the world.

Can I Watch 2022 Formula 1 with a Free VPN?

If you’re looking for some great VPNs to use you will inevitably come across some free services. While it could be tempting to use one of these to save some cash, it’s not advised that you do. Free VPNs come with some drawbacks that will negatively impact your streaming experience.

• Slower connection speeds: Since you’re going to be streaming you need to have a fast and reliable connection or else you will struggle with lag, delays, and poor image quality. Free VPNs do come with slower connection speeds which are not ideal for streaming.
• Fewer global servers: The whole point of using a VPN is to connect to a global server in another country and change your IP address. However, free VPNs often don’t feature many global servers, which could prevent you from accessing the stream you want.
• More ads: Some free VPNs come with extra ads and these could interrupt your streaming experience. The Monaco Grand Prix will be action-packed this weekend, and you won’t want to miss a minute of it with invasive spots or banners.

2022 Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix Schedule

The Monaco Grand Prix will start at 3:00 pm local time (GMT+2) and 9:00 am (EST) on Sunday, May 29. Below you can find a breakdown of practices, qualifying, and the main race.

2022 Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix: What to Expect

Max Verstappen took yet another victory in Spain after Charles Leclerc’s turbo exploded, forcing him to retire from the Grand Prix. Victory looked almost certain as the Ferrari pulled out a massive lead over the reigning World Champion. Verstappen’s incredible record of winning every race he has finished this season survives.

With his victory, Verstappen takes the lead in the championship, and with three wins in a row, he’s reeled in a 46-point lead. Heading into Monaco, you might expect Leclerc to be confident about his home Grand Prix. That won’t be the case however, the Monegasque will be looking to shake off his “Monaco Curse” as he has failed to finish every Monaco Grand Prix he has entered going back to his first F1 season in 2018.

Mercedes are looking to get back into the fight as the upgrades that they brought to Spain seemed to give them incredible race pace. George Russell fought his way to the podium and Lewis Hamilton drove a Champion’s race to drag his car from last place to finish fourth following a first lap incident that put him nearly a lap behind the rest of the pack.

While the Monaco Grand Prix has not been the site of many overtakes and exciting races, we could be in for a treat this weekend with heavy rain predicted for the race on Sunday. If that’s the case, this is a race that you don’t want to miss out on!
