F1 Australia 2024: What to Expect
We’re heading into the third round of the 2024 Formula 1 World Championship. Red Bull has scored 87 out of the possible 88 points in the first two races of the season. The only point they missed out on was the fastest lap point, which Charles Leclerc snatched up on the final lap of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.
Heading into Australia, Red Bull is looking strong as ever on the track. But internally, there are still fires to be put out. Following the Christian Horner controversy, rumors have been flying about an internal power struggle at the team. Could this lead to their downfall this season?
Meanwhile, Toto Wolff insists that Mercedes has found the root cause of their performance issues. According to Wolff, their simulator does not accurately represent the way the car handles on track. This is throwing them off in terms of their data collection and the fundamental setup of the car. If they get their problems sorted, they might still be in contention for the championship this year.
At Ferrari, the team has been quietly confident. With two podiums in a row, they’re keeping in close range of Red Bull. At the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, 18-year-old Oliver Bearman replaced Carlos Sainz at the last minute. Bearman drove brilliantly, qualifying in 11th and finishing the race in 7th place. The young Brit is now returning to his F2 car, but he’s one to keep an eye on in the future!
