2023 MotoGP Spain: What to Expect
The Americas GP was a roller coaster of a race, with many big names unable to make the finish line. Alex Marquez crashed out in the very first lap, and he was only the first to go. Aussie Jack “Thriller” Miller hit the pavement while riding in third place with 14 laps left to go, breathing down the necks of Pecco Bagnaia and Álex Rins.
Race leader Bagnaia was the next to fall, crashing out with 13 laps to go. This was the second time in a row that the Italian ended the race early despite being in the podium position. Bagnaia’s exit opened the door for Álex Rins to win his first Grand Prix of the season.
Luca Marini, who finished in second place, displayed the full-speed advantage of the Ducati over the Yamaha when he overtook Fabio Quartararo in lap 13.
Marco Bezzecchi ended up in 6th place and opened up a bigger gap on Pecco at the top of the drivers’ standings. However, things are still very tight at the top.
The European leg of the 2023 MotoGP season will play a huge role in the standings later on in the year. Fans can look forward to seeing the top contenders try and take an early advantage in Spanish GP to set them up for the rest of the leg.
