His opponent, the reigning champ Aljamain Sterling (22-3), will defend his belt for the third time after dismantling Petr Yan and Dillashaw in his last two fights. Aljo will also look for his 14th win in the UFC’s Bantamweight Division, the most in the sport’s history.
Both Sterling and Cejudo have exchanged harsh words in the build-up to the fight. This one is sure to be an interesting style match-up considering their wrestling backgrounds.
Sterling has a dangerous submission game and relies on unconventional moves and explosiveness to put his opponents in tough situations. Cejudo believes he is the better fighter on his feet but will look to mix it up with his world-class wrestling. The odds-makers can’t seem to pick between the two either, with the fighters locked at -110.
The co-main event is a fight that many fans believe saved the card. Belal Muhammad (22-3) is on an impressive nine-fight undefeated streak and believes he deserves a welterweight title shot against Leon Edwards. His opponent, the always-game Gilbert Burns (22-5) easily dispatched Jorge Masvidal at UFC 287 and is the slight favorite (-125) heading into the fight.
