Oracle Los Angeles SailGP 2023: What to Expect
SailGP races take place over two days, typically Saturday and Sunday. Each day features three races. On Saturday, July 22, all ten teams will participate in three fleet races, while Sunday features two more fleet races and the final race. Teams are awarded points based on their participation in the fleet races, and the top three teams, after five races, move on to the event finals.
We’re just one race into the current season, so much action has yet to unfold. However, based on team performances at the Chicago SailGP, New Zealand, Canada, and Australia appear to be the strongest contenders. All three teams were at least nine points clear of the fourth-placed team, Denmark, after the five fleet races in Chicago.
