2023 MotoGP British GP: What to Expect
Marco Bezzecchi and Pecco Bagnaia continued their fierce Italian rivalry at TT Assen last time out. Six weeks ago, the Dutch Grand Prix provided fans with an exhilarating farewell before the summer break.
The story of the weekend was Jorge Martin, full of confidence, chasing a 7th consecutive podium. However, his chances were slim as he started the race in 10th place on the grid. On the first turn, he was pushed wide and lost his chance of a podium entirely. The Spaniard may have lost the podium, but he would still hang onto second place in the standings thanks to his recent run of form.
Brad Binder took the lead into turn 1 among all the chaos as 4 riders crashed out in the opening couple of laps. But Bagnaia never let the South African out of his sights. On lap 3, the Ducati roared back into the lead of the race and attempted to sprint away at the front of the pack.
However, the top three remained close for the rest of the race, constantly fighting amongst each other and testing the waters with brave overtaking maneuvers. On lap 16, Marco Bezzecchi took Binder’s second place and set his sights on his fellow countryman in the lead of the race.
It was too late though, as Bagnaia crossed the line to take victory at Assen and seal back-to-back wins. Bezzecchi powered home in second place while Binder had to fend off Aleix Espargaro and Jorge Martin for the final step on the podium with an incredible photo finish.
But it wasn’t over just yet. Shortly after the checkered flag fell, race control gave Binder a penalty for exceeding track limits, demoting the South African to fourth place, which put Espargaro onto the podium.

MotoGP Returns to Silverstone
MotoGP is heading for Silverstone this weekend, and it’s always a heart-pounding race. The “Home of British Motorsport” never disappoints when the bikes roar around the most famous corners in the racing world. Bagnaia won the Grand Prix here last year, and he’ll be hoping for much of the same this year — another boring lights-to-flag victory. But that might not be the case!
Bezzecchi has been a strong challenger, and it’s clear that the Italian is not giving up too easily. He’s third in the standings at the moment, but he took victory in the Sprint and second place in the Grand Prix at Assen. He’s red hot at the moment, and with a summer break behind him, he’ll be fresh on the bike once again.
Jorge Martin is currently sitting in second place in the standings. He had horrible luck in Assen last time out, but he’s still in good form. He was sitting on six consecutive podiums with his Prima Pramac bike. There’s no reason why his fine form won’t continue despite the Dutch Grand Prix horror show.
There might be some rain on the horizon for this weekend’s British Grand Prix — if the heavens open up, keep an eye out for Brad Binder! He’s usually a wild card for the win, but when it starts to rain, he’s a completely different beast. He’s already won a race in the wet this year, and he could easily do it again!
