NordVPN is adding 50 new virtual locations to its server network this month, the popular VPN provider announced on Wednesday.
With the new locations, NordVPN now has the most comprehensive geographic coverage of any VPN provider — its server network spans over 6,200 servers in 111 countries. In a press release announcing the expansion, the VPN provider said even more locations will be added in the future.
NordVPN has also increased the number of devices that can be connected simultaneously to one account from six to 10. This means enhanced privacy and security for more devices at no additional cost.
50 New Virtual Servers
NordVPN said it “handpicked” its new virtual server locations to meet “the rising demands and needs” of users.
The new virtual servers are located in various parts of the world, including Greenland, the Isle of Man, Trinidad and Tobago, Bermuda, Nepal, Nigeria, Uruguay, and the Philippines.
With servers in over half the world’s countries, users can choose from an unparalleled range of virtual locations for their internet access needs, whether for bypassing online censorship, secure browsing, or accessing international content, NordVPN explained.
The VPN provider will roll out the new virtual servers with its latest app updates.

Why Virtual Servers?
Virtual servers are useful in regions with stringent internet censorship or challenging political and legal environments, such as Russia or China, where deploying physical servers is fraught with legal hurdles, security risks, and operational challenges.
“The main reason NordVPN considered using virtual servers was to provide users access to locations where the possibility of establishing physical servers is scarce, usually because of a limited physical server infrastructure,” NordVPN’s CTO Marijus Briedis said.
According to the VPN provider, its virtual servers “operate through dedicated physical servers placed outside of the targeted country,” eliminating the need for a physical server. Although they’re virtual servers, they meet the “highest cybersecurity and privacy standards,” NordVPN explained.
