What to Expect for UFC 291 Poirier vs. Gaethje 2
Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje are both incredible fighters, and they’re facing off against one another for the BMF title on Saturday, July 29, 2023.
These are two of the toughest fighters in the UFC. Their previous fight in 2018 was one of the best fights of the year, with Poirier taking victory in a TKO. If this year’s bout is any similar, we’re in for another classic.
Poirier is in fine form, winning four of his last five bouts. He also beat Connor McGregor twice in 2021 but lost against Charles Oliveira in a title fight. He’ll be looking to take advantage of his momentum going into UFC 291 on Saturday.
Gaethje failed to beat Oliveira for the UFC lightweight title in 2022, but he managed to take a win against Rafael Fiziev more recently in March 2023. “The Highlight” will be eager to take revenge against Poirier this weekend.
It’s incredibly close in the bookies at the moment, with Poirier as the favorite at -135, and Gaethje as the underdog on +115.
