Swimmers Competing in Swimming Pool

The governing body for aquatics in Europe, LEN (Ligue Européenne de Natation) is going to let fans of aquatic sports finally dive into the European Aquatics Championships, Budapest! The complete events schedule is staged in Budapest between the 10th and 23rd of May, 2021. The first week (10-16 May 2021) will comprise artistic swimming and diving competitions in the Duna Arena as well as open water swimming events at Lupa Lake, nearby. The remainder of the program will take place between 17-23 May 2021 in the arena as well.

The President of LEN, Paolo Barelli, has stated that this competition in Budapest this year is the first high-level swimming event to take place since 2019 that includes open water, diving, and artistic swimming. Furthermore, he added, this event is a great testing ground for athletes heading into the Olympic games. These Championships are a very important opportunity for the athletes with the Tokyo Olympics (23 July – 8 August 2021) approaching on the horizon. The President of the Hungarian Swimming Association, Sandor Wladar, stated that Budapest will be offering the athletes preparation ahead of the Olympics.

This 35th edition LEN European Aquatics Championship commemorates the oldest continental event in aquatics solely focused in Europe. A record 51 countries will be participating this year, and the first medals will be decided in the diving team and duet tech/mixed finals in artistic swimming. The event is returning to its birthplace for the 5th time in history, after skipping 2020, and it looks like it is going to be filled with exciting moments this year. Aquatic star athletes such as Adam Peaty and Tom Daley are looking to show us some serious swimming.
