Google’s Bard chatbot is now available in more locations, including the European Union (EU) and Brazil, the company announced on Thursday. Google also unveiled many new features for Bard, including support for additional languages and the option to use images in prompts.

Launched on May 10, Google’s Bard has been unavailable in the EU until now due to privacy requirements.

“As part of our bold and responsible approach to AI, we’ve proactively engaged with experts, policymakers, and privacy regulators on this expansion,” Google said in a blog post. “And as we bring Bard to more regions and languages over time, we’ll continue to use our AI Principles as a guide, incorporate user feedback, and take steps to protect people’s privacy and data.”

Bard is Google’s answer to OpenAI’s ChatGPT. The latest update for Bard comes just days after Anthropic launched its new large language model (LLM), Claude 2.

Bard Now Supports Over 40 Languages, Offers Enhanced Features

Google has expanded support for Bard to include new languages like Chinese, Spanish, German, Arabic, and Hindi.

Users can now include images in prompts for Bard. “Whether you want more information about an image or just need help coming up with a caption, you can now upload images with prompts, and Bard will analyze the photo to help,” Google said. This feature is only available to English users at the moment. However, Google has plans to expand support to other languages.

Bard now offers more customized responses, Google said. Users can choose from five modes to tailor Bard’s responses — simple, long, short, professional, or casual. Bard competitors, like Microsoft’s Bing AI, offer a similar feature.

The latest update for Bard allows users to listen to responses. This can aid in understanding the correct pronunciation of words or listening to a poem or script, Google explained.

Furthermore, users can now pin, save, and share chats with Bard. “Now when you start a conversation, you’ll see options to pin, rename and pick up recent conversations in the sidebar,” Google said.

In a move to expand Bard’s coding capabilities, users can also export Python code to Replit. Until now, users could only export code from Bard to Google Colab.

Google said the new features will “help you better customize your experience, boost your creativity, and get more done.”

How to Access the Latest Version of Google Bard

To test the new features on Google Bard, navigate to the Bard website or application and start a conversation. You can customize the type of responses Bard provides, upload images for Bard to analyze, and save conversations for later.
