Newcastle vs. Chelsea: What to Expect
Chelsea and Newcastle should put up an entertaining fight this Saturday. Newcastle is in the best form fans have seen in a long time. They’re currently sitting in third place in the standings with just one loss in their 14 matches. That’s a massive improvement for a team that was on the verge of relegation last season! Newcastle has the home-turf advantage this weekend, and they’re going to make the most of it as they have already taken down some Top 6 giants this season. They drew 3-3 with Manchester City, beat Spurs 2-1, held Manchester United to a 0-0 draw, and very nearly took down Liverpool too. If one thing is certain, it’s that they won’t be fearing Chelsea on Saturday!
Miguel Almiron has been in fine form this season, with the Paraguayan midfielder seemingly carrying Newcastle’s attack. Almiron has scored 8 goals so far this season, which puts him in fourth place overall in the league for goals scored. Four of those goals came in the last four matches too, and he’ll be looking to continue his hot streak. Elsewhere, Kieran Trippier has been a dangerous asset for The Magpies. The defender has been creative in attack, taking dangerous free kicks at goal and sending in tempting crosses from corners.
For the Blues, nothing seems to be working at the moment. Their attack seems lackluster, while their defense has been struggling to keep the ball out of their net too, so there aren’t many notable players in form to keep an eye on. Chelsea failed to score in their previous game against Arsenal and only managed one goal in their 4-1 defeat to Brighton. Some serious changes may need to be made for this weekend’s lineup against Newcastle.
