Cyclists will roll through the Grand Départ of the 2022 Tour de France on Friday, July 1. Riders will be starting off in Denmark this year, with the final stage of the 23-day race wrapping up on the Champs-Élysées in Paris, on Sunday, July 24.
If you’re looking to live stream the 109th Tour de France on your phone, PC, or SmartTV, we’ve found a free UK-based website to do so. But if you’re not physically located in the UK, you’ll run into international geo-blocking restrictions and won’t be able to access it. This goes the other way as well. Cycling enthusiasts looking to watch the Tour de France on their home streaming services will be blocked from accessing them while abroad.
While this may seem like the finish line, you can fix these problems quickly with a Virtual Private Network (VPN). We’ll show you how to watch the Tour de France 2022 for free, no matter where you are in the guide below.
How to Watch the 2022 Tour de France for Free from Anywhere
Considering the popularity of the event, there are countless ways to watch the 2022 Tour de France free online. For example, the UK, Australia, and the Netherlands all offer free broadcasts. So while the London-based ITV covers the entire 109th running of the Tour de France for free, they’re limited to showing it within UK countries. You can chalk that up to licensing and broadcasting agreements.
Websites and streaming platforms determine your location — and who they can show content to — by reading your device’s IP address. Since ITV is only supposed to broadcast free for UK citizens and residents, they’re limited to allowing IP addresses based there. If you’re trying to access the site from the USA, for example, it recognizes that foreign login, which is a “no go.”
In the quick steps below, we’ll show you how to swap your real IP address for a UK-based one, access ITV, and watch the 2022 Tour de France for free!

The 2022 Tour de France: What to Expect
The 2022 Tour de France kicks off with a flat individual time trial, where we’ll see 176 riders take off from Copenhagen. While many veterans will be returning to the cycling superevent — such as Peter Sagan, Phillipe Gilbert and Jakob Fuglsang — a lot of fans will be keeping a sharp eye on debutant and world champion Filippo Ganna.
On day two, the cyclists cycle from Roskilde to Nyborg where the final takes place on one of the world’s largest suspension bridges. Though no strong wind is predicted, even a slight breeze could be considered devastating and dangerous for riders.
The Danish weekend wraps in Sønderborg. This third stage is ideal for the sprinters, and we’ll be able to see how their conditioning has been going this season. Caleb Ewan, Sam Bennet and Fabio Jakobsen are some riders worth paying attention to, although Dutchman Dylan Groenewegen and Belgian Wout van Aert can’t be ignored.
During the rest day on Monday, the riders will travel to Dunkirk. Though riders won’t reach French soil until the fourth stage, there will be plenty of action to keep up with this weekend in Denmark.
