Last week’s disappointing Belgian Grand Prix will go down as Formula 1’s shortest race ever in the sport’s long history. The race was delayed more than three hours due to rain, with the action officially lasting only three minutes and 27 seconds. Red Bull’s Max Verstappen was named the winner based on Saturday’s qualifying.
Fortunately, the Formula 1 Grand Prix continues this weekend with the Dutch Grand Prix. The race will take place at Circuit Park Zandvoort in North Holland, Netherlands from September 3rd through the 5th.
Whether you’re traveling abroad and can’t access your home stream or you live somewhere without a free live stream, we can show you how to catch all of the Dutch Grand Prix on Sunday, Sept. 5 at 9:00 am (EST).

How to Watch the Formula 1 Dutch Grand Prix from Anywhere
Unfortunately, international sports licensing agreements usually limit streaming to the host country. For example, if you are in Canada or the U.S. and you navigate to Switzerland’s SRF site, you’ll receive an error message stating “this content isn’t available in your country.”
This is due to geo-blocking, which means the content isn’t available to you because your IP address is outside of the provider’s country of origin.
This is where a VPN can help you watch the Dutch Grand Prix live stream. With a few clicks, a VPN assigns you a new IP address from a server within Switzerland so that you can view the SRF feed.
If you’re ready to connect to the Dutch Grand Prix for free, follow the steps below:
Step-by-step guide: Use a VPN to stream the Belgian Grand Prix
- Sign up for a VPN with servers applicable to the sporting event. For the Dutch Grand Prix, we recommend ExpressVPN.
- Download the VPN app onto your device. ExpressVPN works on multiple devices, including laptops, mobile phones, and Smart TVs.
- Open the VPN and log in with your credentials.
- Connect to a server in Switzerland and navigate to the SRF website.
- Live stream the Dutch Grand Prix!
If you’d prefer to connect to another stream, such as your home country streamer or any of the other free streams provided, you can simply connect to the Formula 1 provider’s country at step five.
Can I Stream the Dutch Grand Prix on a Free VPN?
The best free VPNs are great for surfing the web, but not so much for streaming live sports. Many free VPNs have data and speed caps that affect streaming. Here are some other issues users typically run into when trying to stream Grand Prix races with a free VPN.
- Lack of available servers. Many free VPNs offer servers in fewer countries compared to premium VPN providers. This could mean that the stream you’re interested in isn’t covered, as the free VPN might not have a server in your desired country.
- Quality and buffering. Another problem is that many free VPNs users experience slow internet speeds, which cause poor quality and buffering. There are several things that could cause this, but speed caps and server overload are typically to blame. You can watch the Dutch Grand Prix with a free VPN by settling for poorer quality streams.
- Data limits. Some free VPNs seem great in the beginning. Speeds are acceptable and servers are in the countries you need. Even their security protocols are top-notch. However, streaming live sports tends to use up a lot of data, and after a while, you could experience the dreaded “You have reached your monthly traffic limit” message. This means you have to purchase additional data, upgrade to a paid subscription, or find another free VPN.
For streaming the Formula 1 Dutch Grand Prix, we recommend going with a premium provider, like ExpressVPN.
Of course, you can still check out our ranking of the three best cheap VPNs. All three have servers in Switzerland for the SRF stream.
