ExpressVPN unveiled a suite of upgrades for its VPN service on Monday to improve user experience and browsing safety.
ExpressVPN has consistently ranked among our top VPNs, and the VPN provider is on a quest to make its service even more secure and convenient for its users across the world.
“Today, we are excited to share a feature-packed update that we think you are going to love—and at no extra cost. It includes even more ways for you to protect yourself online with a single app and subscription,” ExpressVPN’s blog post said.
New Features for ‘Advanced Protection’
The ExpressVPN app is getting two new features — an ad blocker and an adult site blocker — to bolster online safety. These tools are already available on the latest version of ExpressVPN’s Android, iOS, and Windows apps, but Linux and Mac users have to wait until the end of the year to get them.
ExpressVPN’s new ad blocker will shield users from the constant onslaught of online ads, ensuring faster page loads and cutting back data consumption.
“We recommend using the new ad blocker together with other advanced protection features, such as Threat Manager, to not only keep you from seeing some ads but also block the trackers that third parties like advertisers may use to spy on you,” ExpressVPN said in its blog post.
The new adult site blocker will particularly benefit users who wish to create a more children-friendly online environment. According to ExpressVPN, this feature uses open-source blocklists. “We regularly review and update these blocklists so that you can stay protected against the latest threats,” ExpressVPN noted.
To access these new features, go to Options > Settings > Advanced Protection.
ExpressVPN Now Has 105 Global Servers
ExpressVPN has expanded its server network from 94 to 105 countries. This expansion means users have a wider variety of IP addresses and locations at their disposal. ExpressVPN now has servers in Bermuda, Ghana, Puerto Rico, and Jamaica.
“All of the new locations use our modern 10-Gbps servers, so you can expect fast speeds and reliable connections,” the VPN provider said.
Besides new servers, ExpressVPN now allows eight simultaneous device connections under a single subscription, up from five. ExpressVPN is also updating its desktop app to get the latest updates automatically.
“Auto-updates are particularly useful for users who are located in countries with internet restrictions and may not always have easy access to the ExpressVPN site to perform manual updates of their apps,” ExpressVPN said.
