2022 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix: What to Expect

Before we get into the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, we have to take a quick look back at that incredible Brazilian Grand Prix! It was a real rollercoaster of a race weekend, and could easily go down as one of the best of the season! The drama started on Friday as Kevin Magnussen took pole position in Qualifying. It’s the first-ever pole position for the Danish driver and his American Haas team.

In the Sprint race, the Haas did not have the pace to keep up with the front runners as Max Verstappen, George Russell, and Lewis Hamilton quickly got past him. Russell finished first and claimed pole position, with Carlos Sainz in second and Lewis Hamilton in third. However, a penalty saw Sainz drop places for the starting grid on Sunday.

The race got underway, and Mercedes stormed off in the lead, with the two Red Bulls in hot pursuit. The drama unfolded on the first lap as several cars collided, bringing out the safety car. When the race restarted, Verstappen and Hamilton made contact, sending both of them down the order.

Hamilton drove the wheels off his Mercedes to get it back into second place, but it was George Russell who took his first-ever win, and Mercedes‘ first win this season.
